Statement on a recent court ruling of 2023 incident
This concerns an incident that took place at our premises in July 2023. It does not relate to any recent event. The matter was recently determined by the Employment and Labour Relations Court, which is why we are addressing it now.

Brown’s has always taken pride in maintaining a respectful, open, and progressive work environment, guided by fair labour practices, strong HR principles, and a culture of accountability.
In 2023, two senior officers treated a group of our female employees in a way that seriously breached our policies and values. It was wrong, and we deeply regret the distress it caused. We acted swiftly and following a disciplinary process the two officers left the company. We brought in professional counselling for those affected as well as a full HR review.
We do not seek to diminish what the affected employees experienced but wish to reiterate that the conduct of the senior officers was not authorised or condoned by leadership in any way.
We remain committed to a safe, fair, and respectful workplace for everyone at Brown's as well as supporting both our staff at the factory and the wider Kiambu community.

Brown's Food Company is a family-owned, premium food producer based in Tigoni, Kiambu County, Kenya.
Founded in 1979, the company began with a handful of cows on the family farm and grew into one of the best-known cheese makers in Kenya and across the East African region. It today processes more than 20,000 litres of milk a day, sourced from roughly 6,000 smallholder farmers in areas including Molo, Kinangop and Embu. Alongside its award-winning cheeses, Brown's produces yoghurt, ice cream and baked goods, all made with locally sourced ingredients crafted with human health in mind. The company is privately held and employs around 300 people whose skill and craft go into every product.
