Monthly update: March 2026 Celebrating Women at Brown's

*Originally featured in our March email newsletter to our customers

Our March community focus; supporting women's health and dignity, mentoring the next generation, and standing with our women farmers.

This March, Brown's Food Company is centering our community work around International Women's Day. A time to celebrate the strength, leadership, and contribution of women across our workplaces, our farming network, and our community.

For us, it's a chance to keep showing up in the ways that matter: consistent, practical support for the women we work alongside every day. Here's what we're doing this month, and the work that continues behind it:

Supporting women's health and dignity

As part of our March initiatives, we're continuing our sanitary pad donation drive to nearby high schools in need. Since 2023 we've supported three schools: Nyanjega Girls, Ngecha Girls High, and Umoja Secondary. Donating hundreds of pads to help reduce period poverty and keep girls in school with dignity.

3 Schools supported since 2023 1,198 Pads donated

We're also welcoming an important voice to campus: Dr. Eglay Nyakoa, who joined us to speak with employees about women's health. We created a company Culture committee who run alongside HR fostering culture & employee led initatives.

Beyond our gates:

Women from our team have been giving their time at Alpha Joy Children's Home; bringing fresh vegetables from our farm, helping with laundry and cooking, and spending time with the children. It's been a meaningful way to support others in our community.

A resource we're glad to share.

Kenya has a Menstrual Hygiene Management Policy that businesses can build on. We've developed an internal document around it, and we're always happy to share how we did it and why we've found it useful.

Standing with our women farmers

We work closely with our farmers, providing support in animal welfare and dairy best practice. This month, our Women Farmers Breakfast Series creates a space to discuss the challenges our female farmers face. Our seed-sharing programs and regenerative farming knowledge exchanges continue to build skills, resilience, and collaboration across our farming community.
