Oven Fried Halloumi Bites with Hot Honey

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference!)

  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 (8-ounce) blocks of Brown’s Halloumi Cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes (perfectly salty and squeaky!)

  • Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling

  • Crackers (optional, for serving – because why not add some crunch?)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Coating: In a bowl, beat the eggs. In a separate bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, sesame seeds, black pepper, and paprika.

  3. Coat the Halloumi: Dip each Brown’s Halloumi Cheese cube into the beaten eggs, then dredge through the panko mixture until evenly coated. Place the coated halloumi on the prepared baking sheet.

  4. Bake to Perfection: Drizzle the halloumi cubes with extra virgin olive oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown, turning halfway through.

  5. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: While the halloumi is baking, heat the honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the red pepper flakes and stir until combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  6. Serve and Enjoy: Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the crispy halloumi bites just before serving. Serve immediately as an appetizer or with a side of rice and veggies for a complete meal.
